March 27th was declared National Assistive Technology Awareness Day in the US. It is a day to remember that Assistive Technology levels the playing field for millions of people with disabilities. 1 in 4 people in the United States have a disability, and for them technology is the key to entire worlds the rest of us take for granted.
In this newsletter we are happy to announce the coming of the Windows Open Sesame version, the launch of our new Forums, a cheat sheet that has long been asked for, and share our view on Assistive Technology’s mission.
Open Sesame Windows Version
The Windows version of Open Sesame has been in beta for several weeks now, and has been getting terrific feedback.
We are delighted to announce that the official release will be by end of April, and will pack tons of exciting features for our windows users.
New Sesame Forums
We’ve opened a new Forums section on Sesame Enable’s website to get the conversation started.
It is the gathering place for our community to discuss Sesame’s role in their life, share tips, request future features and ask for support.
We Promise Not to Cheat!
But we don’t promise not to share our new Cheat Sheet! 🙂
A cheat sheet has been asked for by many therapists using Sesame, who need a quick reference to the different icons and common settings.
In light of the National Assistive Technology Awareness Day, we wanted to ponder a minute on what Sesame means for our users:
For Gary it is taking selfies with his grandchildren
For Kevin it is keeping up to speed on current affairs
For Lynne it is connecting with loved ones
For Avinoam it is drawing
For Ron it is going back to work
For Maria it is participating in class
For Daniel it is playing games
For Elon it is meeting new people
For Esther it is doing things she only dreamed of
Here’s to harnessing technology for those who need it most!
